Southwood Landscape & Garden Center is a retail garden center and landscape design/build firm located in south Tulsa, where 91st Street, Lewis Avenue and Riverside Drive come together. Most positions listed below start between February 15th and March 31st and are classified as seasonal temporary positions, which typically means from late February until about Mother’s Day.  We are a 7 day a week operation and scheduled hours and days vary based on the position, department and the season.  Applicants must be willing and available to work weekends and overtime as required.  All positions require the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

OBJECTIVE:           Under the direction of the Section Leader or Retail Operations Manager, the Sales Attendant is responsible for handling and care of inventory, assisting customers and keeping the area clean. Other duties will be as directed by the Retail Manager or Department Head.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Reports to work on a timely and regular basis
  • Provides assistance with product care and merchandising
  • Maintains quality of nursery stock by watering, pruning and fertilizing

OBJECTIVE:             Under the direction of the Sales Helper Section Leader, the Sales Helper is responsible for the handling of merchandise purchased by customers while working within the framework of the Policies and Procedures Manual. Other duties will be as directed by the Section Leader or Customer  Experience Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provides assistance to customers and Sales Persons.
  • Ensures proper handling of merchandise to and into customers’ vehicles, to prevent damage or loss.
  • Evaluates the needs for tie-downs, wind protection for foliage, and protective materials for vehicles, in order to prevent damage.
  • Initiates the gathering of goods promptly and courteously, as requested by Sales Persons and Cashiers, to accommodate customers and create and industrious atmosphere.
  • Maintains proper quantities of bagged goods, plants and other stock in displays and customer access areas.
  • Is at work on a timely and regular basis.
  • Initiates the cleaning of parking areas, store entry, sidewalks, bench areas, etc., to facilitate pleasant and safe conditions.
  • Acts under the direction of other superiors to accomplish any needs of the company, i.e. unloading trucks, making flat boxes, organizing or stocking merchandise, office and store clean up.

OBJECTIVE:           The Cashier is responsible for accurate processing of customers’ purchases and providing excellent customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provides a pleasant experience for customers through friendly customer relations and the technical use of cash registers. 
  • Performs duties associated with opening and closing the assigned cash drawer. Completes Daily Log Sheet.
  • Processes existing tax-exempt and landscaper discount customers.
  • Reports to work on a regular and timely basis.
  • Coordinates with sales helper section as needed.

OBJECTIVE:            Under the direction of the Bedding Plant Section Leader, the Bedding Plant Attendant is responsible for the handling and care of the annual bedding plants, herbs and vegetables.  Other duties will be as directed by the Retail Operations Manager in Section Leader’s absence.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Maintains quality of bedding plant and other annual stock by watering, pruning and fertilizing
  • Initiates the cleaning of the nursery yard to facilitate pleasant and safe conditions.
  • Acts under the direction of the Bedding Plant Section Leader or Retail Operations Manager to accomplish any needs of the company, i.e. organizing and stocking plants, signing merchandise, etc.

POSITION TITLE: Order Fulfillment Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Hard Goods Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal/Full-Time (Safety Sensitive)
OBJECTIVE: Under the direction of the Hard Goods Manager, the Order Fulfillment
Coordinator is responsible for maintaining order statuses in Point of Sale System
(Counterpoint), pulling items from inventory for Landscape projects, and fulfilling orders from
outside vendors and online orders. Other duties will be as directed by the Hard Goods
Manager.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:● Maintains order status in Point of Sale System (Counterpoint) to ensure that the nursery
has plants of the highest quality to offer its customers.
● Initiates contacting special order customers by phone and email to communicate order
status.
● Pulls special orders and “will call tickets” when requested in a timely fashion.
● Participates in loading of trucks.
● Initiates the gathering of goods promptly and courteously, as requested by Sales
Persons and customers.
● Reorganizes the stock in reaction to changing inventory to best utilize the available
space.
● Acts under the direction of the Nursery Manager to accomplish any needs of the

OBJECTIVE:          Under the direction of the Receiving Manager, the Receiving Attendant is responsible for receiving, stocking and accounting of inventory material to accomplish the goals of the nursery. Other duties as assigned by the Receiving Manager, or by the Nursery Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Participates in the unloading of trucks.
  • Labels merchandise to facilitate the ease of purchasing the product by customers.
  • Counts received merchandise in an accurate and efficient manner, so information can be given to the Inventory Control office for further processing.
  • Reports to work timely and regularly.
  • Implements the AML’s to record merchandise barcodes to be entered into the inventory control system.
  • Inspects incoming material for damage or low quality and processes returned or damaged merchandise.
  • Maintains a safe and organized work area to avoid accidents.
  • Completes special projects and performs other duties as requested.

Job Description: Load and unload landscaping materials from truck. Remove existing material and
debris from worksite. Prepare site for new landscape installation. Install new plant material. On-the-

job training available.

Job Requirements: 6 mo landscaping experience, ability to lift 60 lbs. Pre-hire drug test,
paid/reimbursed by employer, for all new hires (domestic and foreign). This does not apply to
returning seasonal workers as they have been grandfathered in; however, random drug testing, paid
for by the employer, is subject to occur for any and all safety sensitive positions, per policy.

Work hours & days: 40+ hrs, 7a-5p, M-Sat, hours and workdays may vary depending on weather.

Benefits: Optional 401K after one year of service, if qualified.

Pay rate: $15.90/hr; $23.85/hr OT

Pay frequency: Biweekly

Single workweek used as standard for computing wages due. Raises and/or bonuses may be
offered to any worker, at the employer’s sole discretion, based on work performance, skill, or tenure.

Workdays may begin/end earlier or later on any given day depending on season demands or
weather conditions. Workers may be requested to work additional hours, weekends, holidays, and
the Sabbath depending on need.

Employer will make all deductions required by law. Other deductions may be taken at employee’s
written request, i.e., internet, cable, cash advances, medical expenses, etc.
Employer will reimburse H2B workers in the first workweek all visa, visa processing, border crossing,
and other related fees, including those mandated by the government.
Tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job duties provided at no charge.
Employer will offer the worker employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three
fourths of the workdays of each 12-week period, if the period of employment covered by the job order
is 120 or more days, or each 6-week period, if the period of employment covered by the job order is
less than 120 days.
At the sole discretion of the employer, workers may be required to submit to a post hire drug test,
paid by the employer. Positive results or refusal to take the test may result in immediate termination.
Any worker found to have a criminal conviction, DWI, commits serious acts of misconduct, refuses to
follow instructions, violates work rules, fails to perform job duties in a competent manner, or other
lawful job-related reasons will be subject to termination.
Workers who have a clean driving record and insurable driver’s license may be required to drive
company vehicles.
If the worker lives outside of normal commuting distance, employer will reimburse the
transportation/subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer
to the worksite once the worker completes 50% of the work contract.
Return transportation/subsistence from the place of employment to the place from which the worker
departed to work for the employer, disregarding intervening employment, will be paid once the
worker completes the entire contract period or if dismissed early.
The transportation reimbursement will be the most economic, reasonable common carrier cost.
Subsistence will be $15.46/day, max of $59 (receipts required).
At a minimum, both domestic and foreign workers will earn the prevailing hourly wage; however, the
employer may choose to pay experienced workers, regardless of origin, more than the required
minimum wage rate. Raises and/or bonuses may be offered to any worker, at the employer’s sole
discretion, based on work performance, skill, or tenure.

Employer may charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the worker’s refusal or negligent
failure to return any property furnished by the employer or due to such worker’s willful damage or
destruction of such property.
