Reaching a maturity size of 20′ tall and 15′ wide, its summer leaf color is a vibrant green, which can transform into a spectacular display of gold, orange, or red in the fall. In Oklahoma, it needs protection from intense afternoon sun and heat, but will thrive in morning sun and afternoon shade. It requires well-drained, moist, acidic soil, and will not tolerate droughts, flooding, or waterlogged soil conditions. Regular maintenance includes mulching and summer pruning to maintain health and shape. This plant is non-toxic to humans and animals.. Mature Size: 15-20′ x 12-15′ after 10-15 years.
